Life Transitions/Identity Crisis:

Often when we are in transition, we are forced to grow so quickly that we lose ground and can even lose ourselves in it. This can be scary especially when there are high expectations to perform, such as having a new child or starting a new job or relationship. When things are unfamiliar, we feel a loss of control. When we feel out of control, we develop behaviors to try and gain control, such as using alcohol or other substances, making poor financial decisions, losing motivation, numbing out with social media or television, disassociating, and finding other coping methods. This may help temporarily but end up just making us feel more lost.

We have tools and techniques to help you embrace change and reinvent your purpose.

Anxiety, Depression, Extreme Stress, and Insecurities:

We will carefully screen your symptoms related to your concerns to find the issue's root. Once we get to the cause of the symptoms we can approach the symptoms with different therapeutic techniques to treat (CBT, EMDR, EFT, ACT). We are therapists with a trauma lense and see most symptoms as the result of trauma or an event that impacted your system.

Neurodivergent Conditions

  • ADD/ADHD
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Dyslexia
  • Sensory Processing Disorders

Addiction as a coping skill:

Do you use drugs, alcohol, food, distractions (television, social media, scrolling on your phone), gambling, or other methods as a way to disconnect from reality? What is it that you're running from? What is so scary about that place? How has this substance helped you? How has it hurt you? Are you ready to face your fear and develop alternative coping skills to manage symptoms that will no longer harm you? Let’s go!

By focusing on the root of the issue we can help you develop healthier coping skills to manage your symptoms instead of these other numbing methods.

How We Treat

Eye Movement Desensitize and Reprocessing (EMDR):

EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress resulting from disturbing life experiences.  Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy, people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal.  EMDR therapy shows that the mind can heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.  When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound.  If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.  EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes.  The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health.  If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.  Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes. https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy:

A holistic approach to healing trauma or unhealthy attachment patterns formed in early childhood. It integrates the body and movement into traditional talk therapy to address and heal ongoing psychological and physical difficulties.

Emotionally Focus Therapy (EFT):

A therapeutic approach based on the premise that emotions are key to identity. According to EFT, emotions are also a guide for individual choice and decision-making. This type of therapy assumes that lacking emotional awareness or avoiding unpleasant emotions can cause harm.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT):

A type of mindful psychotherapy that helps you stay focused on the present moment and accept thoughts and feelings without judgment. It aims to help you move forward through difficult emotions so you can put your energy into healing instead of dwelling on the negative.

Mindfulness Therapy:

Mindfulness therapy is a type of talk therapy that focuses on learning how to be more aware of thoughts, feelings, emotions, surroundings, and situations, and to reduce automatic responses.

Inner Child Thearpy:

Helps you draw connections between your childhood experiences and how they may still be subtly guiding your adult behavior. They may ask you questions about specific memories, your internal family systems, and the triggers that still affect you

Internal Family Systems (IFS):

A type of therapy that believes we are all made up of several parts or sub-personalities. It draws from structural, strategic, narrative, and Bowenian types of family therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):

Structured, goal-oriented type of talk therapy. The goal of CBT is to change our patterns of thinking and relearn healthier behaviors. It can help relieve symptoms, and improve your outlook.
