Isable Smith, LCSW

Hello! I’m a therapist and owner of Mind, Body, Soulmates Individual, Couples, and Family Counseling. I started my group practice after 5 years of Medical Social Work in a trauma one hospital in Denver. In January of 2023, I decided to open my practice to other clinicians who share the same mission to treat individuals, couples, and families through a trauma lens. Other experiences in the field include inpatient and outpatient psych and substance use clinics, crisis response, women’s prison in Thailand, alternative high school social work, and home health and hospice.

I questioned my purpose in a lot of areas of my life, but this career path wasn’t one of them. As a child of a dysfunctional family dynamic (addiction, perfectionism, abuse, neglect, unpredictability and fear, conditional love, lack of boundaries, lack of intimacy, and poor communication) I learned to grow up quickly to care for myself and my siblings. I grew curious and empathetic towards my family and other family dynamics. Human behavior has always intrigued me. This career gave me the opportunity to understand it from a theoretical and scientific viewpoint, which lead me to my own therapy in EMDR, Inner-child and EFT. I practice what I preach. I’m consistently learning from my clients and learning how to better support them in their suffering by caring for my own.

Relationship therapy with individuals and couples is my jam. The population I work with comes to me with childhood attachment issues that are showing up in their adult relationships through triggers or behaviors that leave them feeling insecure in their relationships. I use EFT, EMDR, and inner-child therapy creatively in my sessions. You can expect to feel validated, empowered, and deeply understood. I will challenge you to go deeper than surface-level talk therapy to find the root of your suffering and teach you the tools in our sessions to manage unwanted symptoms and insecurities.

I’m a believer in the therapy I provide to my clients because these therapeutic modalities worked for me. Coming from a disorganized attachment style and having the urge to run from relationships, I now feel mostly secure in myself and my relationships.

I’m incredibly grateful for my husband of 10 years for his patience and consistency to allow me to work through my trauma and to be a major part in my process through couples counseling. This has allowed us to take our relationship to the next level of growth (literally). We are so excited to be expecting a baby girl to join our family come November 2023. We call our home “the cat ranch” because our 2 cats rule the house and everyone knows it. We also have two brown labs that we love dearly and keep us on our toes. I love to travel and learn about other cultures and have incorporated different practices into my own life, such as meditation and closing my eyes when I eat sushi. I love anything outdoors, especially hiking 14ers. I completed all 58 14ers summer of 2022 and am working towards climbing bigger mountains around the world. I love love love music, if I’m going to run into you it’s likely going to be at a concert because I can appreciate all genres. I love my career as much as I love my hobbies and spend a lot of downtime reading scholarly journals, watching documentaries, and being creative in developing tools for my clients. That’s enough about me, I’d love to hear about you!!
